Breastfeeding is not an easy task and it comes with a lot of “challenges”. One of this is, your breast is leaking whenever it feels like…  😳 and that’s happening quite often. It can happen when you nurse your baby or when your breasts become uncomfortably full. Therefore, nursing pads (aka breastpads) are a great option to stay “dry” since they can absorb the breast milk from leaking breast. There are many different types and brands of nursing pads available.

I have only tested and used the disposable nursing pads from Lansinoh, Medela and NUK.The Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads are soft, thin and comfortable. They are highly absorbent and odour free. The pads have a double adhesive tape, which ensures the pads to stay firmly in place. What I like is that the pads are individually wrapped, which is hygienic and makes it easier to carry in a diaper bag / handbag.  I received the Medela Disposable Nursing Pads to test when I got discharged from the hospital (together with some other Medela products to test for). Their nursing pads are very similar to the Lansinoh ones. However, they are to a certain degree even more absorbent I would say. Especially great for overnight, when you don’t even notice that your breasts are leaking. Or when you have heavy leaking breasts in general. The disposable nursing pads by NUK are more designed for breastfeeding moms, who have a very light breast leaking. Surely not a product for me currently since the pads don’t really absorb! Even though on their package it says “super absorbent” #thumbsdown Unlike the ones from Medela or Lansinoh, the NUK Ultra Dry pads have only one adhesive tape, which make the pads easily to fall off instead of staying where they should stay. And that is happening all the time. Super annoying. Again #thumbsdown Moreover, the pads are not wrapped individually – but that’s not a big issue.

I am currently using the Lansinoh ones since they are available in my nearest drugstore. Even though I have only used the Medela nursing pads twice but they left me with a good impression. I would certainly purchase them should I see it in a drugstore. However, I won’t re-purchase the nursing pads by NUK giving the reasons above.

Which nursing pads are you using? And how do you cope with breast leaking?
