I am currently in the mood for Peruvian food, especially after my recent (first time ever) restaurant experience with this cuisine at Chicha 😀

When I visited C over the weekend in Hamburg, we decided to opt for that instead of our usual “Sushi hunting” 😎

If you type in Google or in Tripadvisor Peruvian Restaurants in Hamburg not many places will show up. In fact only for 5 or 4 places that serves Peruvian food, with one that offers it in combination with Japanese food. Our choice ended up with Leche de Tigre simply because it got the most reviewers votes. This place is located in the Hamburg district area Altona and is relatively new (opened last year in November). I am sure in the near future more Peruvian restaurants will be opened. We went for Ceviche Tigre (I like the taste of the sauce but other than that so-so) Ceviche Nikkei (you can surely guess by the taste that this dish is a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian culture) Yuca Frita Anticucho de Pulpo y Chorizo (it’s okay this one. Not my favourite but C seems to like it) And as for dessert: Tres Leches Brownie (very nice this one, especially the taste combination of brownie and vanilla ice-cream with a touch of rum and caramel flavour). This restaurant was very well visited. We even bumped into some colleagues of C. I highly recommend making a reservation upfront for getting a table. Otherwise, for some spontaneous visitors – places at the bar are available.

Overall experience: 8/10 (food and drinks were served very fast. Staffs were super nice as well. I just wish there was more from the menu to choose from. The food menu only exists of two pages, one for the cold dishes/ tapas and the other shows the warm dishes (incl. the dessert part). I know that Chicha, the place where I went in Berlin last week, also had a very simple menu card, which made me think whether Peruvian food is really that simple… let’s see – I guess I can find the answer very soon by myself once I am in Peru next month #yeah).
