Olá

C had a conference in Lisbon next week. Hence, I decided to join him there, well, at least over the weekend since I had to be back at the office on Monday unfortunately >.<

I had never been to Portugal before but I know that I am intrigued to visit it one day. We landed at Lisbon Portela Airport and took a taxi to our stay. I have to say that the taxi fare here is relatively cheap. Around 10 Euros for a 20mish car ride. C booked us at The Lisbonaire Apartments, which is right at the centre. Bairro Alto is reachable within walking distance as well as other major spots in Lisbon.

After checked-in we head out for a light “early” dinner at Taberna da Rua das Flores. We came here right on time as afterwards this place got pretty overcrowded consider that they have only 7 tables!! Staffs were very friendly and helpful, and explained in great patience each menu that they offered since all these were written in Portuguese on a chalk board. Food was thoughtfully created and elegantly arranged.

My favourite was the Tuna Tataki

Afterwards, we walked around the city centre and made our way to the Elevador de Santa Justa, where we enjoyed the peaceful night view of the city. The Elevator connects the lower streets of the Baixa with the higher Largo do Carmo (Carmo Square).

It offers a panoramic night view over the city. On our way back we found out that one was able to get the “same” view more or less IF choosing the entrance from Carmo Square. Well, with the 10metre difference since with the paid ticket (€5), the lift took us only one level up. Oh well, but being a tourist one need to do it at least once, right?

Before heading to dinner we enjoyed a small drink at Topo Chiado, which offers a great selection of various cocktails. I believe in summer this place must be overcrowded. Excellent location on a rooftop with a stunning view towards the castle and the Elevador de Santa Justa. Saúde!

Dinner was at The Mini Bar Teatro, which is located in Chiado. We got very lucky since we didn’t make any reservation for a Friday night. As expected that place was totally overbooked. However, we were asked to be seated at the bar for less than half an hour till an empty table becomes available. Sweet.

The waiters and waitresses were all super friendly. Happy smiling faces ^^ Definitely a place to come back. The food is served in modern and fun style which represents the atmosphere of the restaurant as well, very casual but at the same time offers high end cooking standard.

We started with their “best-sellers” the foie gras “Ferrero Rocher” with hazelnuts and a gold-leaf candy wrapper. Tasted bit weird since I’m not a huge fan of foie gras.

Followed by Roasted Chicken and Croquettes

Highlight of the menu was their mini burgers and small potatoes. Simply delicious. So delicious that C even ordered a second one hahaha I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lisbon.
