IFA 2016

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last week, I had the chance to visit the IFA, which is the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. It’s my second time. My first visit was ages ago, back at university time. I still remember back then the focus was on GPS and navigation, where it has become very common nowadays.

Now everybody is talking about #smartliving, self-driving cars (which are soon to become reality as well). OMG, I am super excited. No more hustle with backwards/ reverse parking, however, on the other side this also scares a bit since we become more and more reliable on digital. I mean, when I did my South France trip few months ago, my friend and I, we both relied on TomTom. It’s hard for me to imagine, how the previous generation did it in the past with purely relying on maps reading only. And now the self-driving cars are coming soon. All you have to do is to tell the car where you want to drive, the location, and the car will do the rest for you, incl. parking. Right now this project is in testing mood, but that is how our future will look like – not that far away from these science fiction scenes in the movies.

Also coming soon to the market will be the touchscreen fridges (aka #smartfridge). It’s overwhelming to have a fridge that tells you which products are about to expire and giving you cooking suggestions/ ideas on top based on the products in your fridge. Moreover, it can also do the “online food delivery” for you. How great and convenient is that.

Another highlight which I like was the Yamaha’s self-playing piano. Simply amazing!

And this cute little robot also caught my attention.

All in all it was amazing to see how the future or in which direction it will go like as in terms of consumer electronics and home appliances.
