From Wix to WordPress

One of the reasons for me to switch from Wix to WordPress was that it always takes super long time to load a page and sometimes “ages” if a post contains a few pictures. Not only on laptop devices but also from iPad or Smartphone. Loading time was simply too long. Another reason was their subscription plan. I signed up for one year, which is about to end in a few days, and it was during their promotion period back then.

Wix offers five subscription plans

I signed up for their unlimited but paid the combo price. I had unlimited bandwidth, but still it loaded everything slowly. And if I opt for the Combo one now, it would still cost me €102 per year (excluding the free domain – since this offer only applies for new domain owners). My currently plan with WP is like around €6 per month for hosting, and sites are loading fast too.

One of the big advantage that Wix offers is their drag & drop function. It was super easy to create a website after your own expectation. No coding skills or whatever were needed.

I wish WordPress can offer the same. It would be impossible for me to recreate the same layout with WP. I know there are thousands of templates and themes available. However, I prefer more to have a blog that represents my own style. My own choice of layout and colour. Hence, even though I try my best to get myself familiar with WP, I feel that I would still need to hire a WP/ blog designer. Therefore, any recommendations are highly welcomed!! Especially, since I won’t change WP for a while now and I assume I need to acquire myself some coding skills meanwhile too.
