Ever since I came to Hamburg, hubby kept saying that “we should have food at Poletto Winebar”. Apparently one of the nice Italian restaurants in Eppendorf.
This place always seems to be “busy”. Last year we almost went but due to my pregnancy I did not fancy anything what they had on their menu. So, this time we gave it a try.
Same as like last year, their menu looks very limited. They do have some variety to choose from – such as pizza & pasta dishes but only a few options from each dish. In contrast they have a huge wine card to select from.
Anyway, we opted for their Pollo Ruspante Alla Contadina Con Carciofi (€21,50) Penne Con Risotto Aquarello Con Cantarelli (€16,90) and Spaghetti Con Gamberoni (€18,90) Food are nicely presented, however, as you can see from the after picture the pasta was way too oily. I did not even finish it. I know that Italian people loves olive oils. But sometimes too much can be too much. And from my food experiences in Italy, I have never been to a restaurant, which added that much oil in a pasta!
Overall Experience: 4.5/10 This place gets points for its location. Service was more like of a hit-and-miss. One staff was nice, the other one bit arrogant. Overall, slow service – either understaffed or on siesta. Food choices are very limited, which do not reflect the price and quality at all! As mentioned above, my pasta dish was soaked in oil. There are surely better Italian restaurants in Hamburg.
