Let’s continue with my current ramen “addiction” journey in Hamburg. My first ramen experience in this new city, leads me to the Ramen Bar Zipang, which is located in the Hamburg district Eppendorf. It’s a small and cosy restaurant that tries to re-create these “homey” restaurants, where one can find on almost every street corner in Japan. For starters we went for Edamame – I do not think anyone can go wrong with this one. The Chicken Wings well nicely fried and tasty. Even without the sauce, which I found bit too salty. I did not like their Gyoza that much. Too greasy and too soft. I surely had tried better ones before. As in terms of their Ramen, they surely have a nice variety of different Ramen to offer. One can choose between Miso Ramen, Shio Ramen, Shoyu Ramen and Traditional Shoyu Ramen. The differences are the taste of the soup content.
I opted for their Basic Traditional Shoyu Ramen (€10.40) with corn on addition as a topping. The ramen itself and the toppings were nice. However, they put way too much salt into the soup. I was super thirsty the whole night, even though I did not even touch the soup. Overall Experience: 6/10 (This place is cosy and staffs were nice and attentive. They do not have a huge starter menu selection, however, a good variety of different ramen options. Food was served fairly quickly. However, I did not like their ramen soup. It was way to over-salted as mentioned above. And I heard that people on the table next to us, also mentioned the taste of the soup was too salty.)
Good to Know: No credit cards are accepted. Last order that they take is at 9.30pm.
