As autumn approaches and the days starting to get colder, there is nothing more that makes my tummy happier than having a warm noodle soup 🙂 As you might have read from one of my previous blog posts, I am a huge fan of Phô (Vietnamese noodle soup).
This time, I wanted to try something different and decided to opt for the Japanese noodle soup version at Cocolo Ramen (from the same owner who also owns 893 Ryōtei, where I went for Japanese dining last month).
Currently there are two Cocolo Ramen places in Berlin, one in Mitte and the other one in Kreuzberg. I went to the second one since this one is opened from 12pm (between Mondays to Saturdays), whereas the one in Mitte is only open during the evening time from 6pm. Moreover, Cocolo Ramen is apparently supposed to be the best Ramen place in the city.
Their menu card is pretty modest, where you can choose between 5-6 different starters and then between about the same amount of Ramen soups.
We started off with some Gyoza Spinach with sesame dressing and Edamame Before our Ramen noodle soups arrived 😀
Shoyu Ramen Tonkotsu Ramen Overall Experience: 7.5/10 (We went there on a late Saturday afternoon, outside the brunch time and way before dinner time. However, this place was pretty well visited. Waitress was friendly and got us seated immediately since I didn’t have any preference between sitting inside and outside. She got us seated at a table outside, where we shared it with some other people, which I didn’t mind. This restaurant doesn’t take any reservation upfront. So be wrapped warmly if you plan to come here on a really bad weather day when sitting outside isn’t an option but you still have to wait in the queue outside for getting a table inside. The atmosphere is quite casual and relaxed. Prices are reasonable. In terms of taste: not the best Ramen that I have ever had but also not the worst either 😉 )
