As mentioned in my recent post before, more restaurant reviews about Hamburg food scene will come up on this blog.
This time C and I tried the Vietnamese restaurant called Quan Do, which is located in the city centre, close to the main train station.
According to other people’s reviews this is one of the most authentic Vietnamese place in Hamburg. We arrived there in the late afternoon for a quick afternoon snack. Hence, far after lunch time but still too early to call it dinner time: basically peak-off time 🙂
It seems that other people had the same idea as we did because when we arrived, we had to join the queue outside with the other restaurant guests and their pets. Yes, you read it correct: pets! This place is an animal friendly restaurant. Pet owners can bring their dog inside the restaurant as well 🙂 Apart from that, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is pretty relaxed. Expect to share your table with others if you don’t come in a large group, where you need the table all for yourself.
As soon as we got our table, the waitress brought the menu card and took our orders. Despite that this place was overcrowded, we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive.
C and I went both for Pho Bo (Beef Noodle Soup)
While I went for the Gỏi cuốn (Summer rolls) C opted for Chả giò (Fried spring rolls) Which we shared obviously 😀
Overall Experience: 8/10 (be prepared with long waiting time, if you visit this place during the rush hour time since they don’t take reservations upfront. Moreover, currently they only accept cash payment)
