Potsdam is just an hour by train away from Berlin. It is the capital and largest city of the German federal state of Brandenburg. Since the opening of the Museum Barberini this January a lot of people have taken more notice of this place.
It was also because of the Museum Barberini why I wanted to spend this weekend in Potsdam. They currently exhibit paintings by Monet, Renoir, Sisley, and Liebermann (just to name a few) and many other world famous painters.
We checked-in at NH Potsdam.
The location of this hotel is perfect, opposite the Dutch Quarter
and within walking distance to all major POIs, such as the Nauener Tor
Jägertor
and the Brandenburg Gate
Late lunch was done at the Klosterkeller, which serves local (German) food.
The place has a traditional wooden design, which tries to recreate the historical atmosphere of the 18th century.
Afterwards we made our way towards the royal parks and palaces,
notably Sanssouci, the summer residence of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia.
For me, Sansscouci Park is one of the most beautiful parks that I have been to, and no matter how often I come back, I can never get tired of this place.
