¡Holá!

It wasn’t easy to decide where to spend my birthday this time. One thing for sure – somewhere warm to escape the cold weather in Germany. Original destination in mind was Athens but since it seems also cold there around this season of the year, we decided for Spain again. Last year was Barcelona, this year I was torn between Valencia, Alicante, Malaga and Seville *hahaha* so many places to choose from.
But yeah – Seville “wins” (^_^)” The lovely sunny capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region – that is famous for flamenco dancing and its unique architecture influenced by the Moorish Almohad dynasty back in the 12th century.

We arrived there in the late afternoon after an almost 6hish flight. Unfortunately, there is no direct flight from Berlin. We had a transfer in Frankfurt first.

From Seville Airport we took the Airport Bus (EA), which costs €4 p.p. (one way), and it literately stops in front of our Hotel – Novotel Sevilla Marqués del Nervion.

After check-in and a quick rest we headed towards the city centre. Tonight (as of every 5th January of the year) is the famous Three Kings Parade (Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos), which starts from 4.30pm till approximately 10pm.

We missed the parade opening. Since it’s a huge parade that goes through the whole city, we just waited till they pass the next spot nearby us. Meanwhile, we walked around the city centre for having a first impression of Seville…

… and to have tapas at Bodega Santa Cruz. The atmosphere here is cosy and service is quick. The place is filled with locals and tourists.

There are plenty of tapas to choose from. I just wish my Spanish is good enough to read all these menus since the staffs don’t really speak English >.<

By the time we finished our tapas it was time to walk towards the next parade point before the Three Kings (Melchor, Gazpar and Baltasar) arrive.

With many others – we waited in full excitement for their arrival. Since it was the first time to attend such a parade, we didn’t really know what to expect – until…

The Three Kings finally make their way towards our waiting area. They were accompanied by musicians and all types of performers.

In addition, their trucks were loaded with sweets that were thrown into the crowd. #candyrain #yeah \(^_^)/\(^_^)/

What an eventful evening – a bag full of candies and that after only 1h watching the parade *hahaha* Definitely an event that shouldn’t be missed out if you’re travelling in January to Spain!
