We still have minus degree temperature in Berlin (and that for weeks) >.< I can’t imagine of a better winter food than HotPot around this year of the season to keep the body warm. I have been to a few Chinese HotPot places in the city, and “Lucky Star” has always been on the list that I want to try out. I have only heard good reviews about this restaurant, which is located at Oranienburger Tor (next to the underground line U6).
The HotPot pot comes in “Yin & Yang” shape. You have the option to choose between two different soup taste – choices are: Hot Chilly, Mild, Chinese Herbs, Thai Sweet & Sour, and Curry flavour. We opted for Mild and Chinese Herbs.
Ingredients for the pot are
- meat-wise: thinly sliced lamp, chicken, pork and beef meat
- seafood-wise: fish filet, prawn, squid, fish ball, and meat ball (for some reasons)
- vegetable-wise: tofu, rice cake, soybean sprouts, spinach and a few others
It comes with the dipping sauce: peanut!! For me peanut sauce is a must with every HotPot meal!! The two combinations are simply made for each-other 🙂
The restaurant offers an “All You Can Eat” HotPot for €13.80 p.p., meaning that you can refill any of the ingredients plate at any time. For me one portion of each was already very filling. And I have to say that I wasn’t disappointed. It’s not my No.1 HotPot place but surely worth an occasional visit.
Besides HotPot, Lucky Star also offers à la carte menu. We only ended up with one Dim Sum dish – Ha Gau (Shrimps dumplings) since we were too full.
If you want to visit Lucky Star during dinner time, I strongly advise you for reservation!! As otherwise this place can be easily filled up by locals and tourists.
